2024 here rewatching and getting some nostalgia. I miss old GB

I miss those Gamesoot days. The forums were thriving with tons of users and I met lots of cool people. Greg Kasavin, Jeff Gerstmann, Ryan Davis, Brad Shoemaker and Alex Navarro were all great reviewers. So many site features back then. GameSpot is a sterile ghost town now.

Fact about APM, a high end player with no superfluous actions maxes out around 150-190 "clean" APM. Some pros can hit spurts of 250+ "dirty" when losing composure and spamming commands. So around 3 or more commands a second, while watching the map and calculating builds/counters.

For anyone curious about the arcade, it was "TIME OUT". A young-ish NAMCO actually built it, one of about 300 such arcades they built globally around the start of the Willenium. These joints typically got the best selections of first party and affiliated titles and were typically the testbeds for new releases. TIME OUT had it one better, as they had physical proximity to Midway who wanted to use these popular arcades as their own testbed. Even though the companies were technically competing in both foreign and domestic markets, NAMCO sort of let Midway use their infrastructure to tune their own hits. It was a weird time.
